Revolution and Romanticism, chosen and introduced by Jonathan Wordsworth |
Revolution & Romanticism reflects many different aspects of the Romantic period, from the French Revolution to the death of Coleridge. There are volumes of poetry, journalism, travel, drama, biography, fiction, political and religious polemic, criticism and literary commentary. There are works of feminist and psychological interest, and texts in which the modern reader will recognise important sources for work by the great poets. There are contemporary translations of influential foreign-language books; and there are early or unusual versions (normally the first) of some texts, reinforcing an underlying purpose of the series in reminding us how publication was seen at the time and the original critical judgements formed. Each volume contains a short introduction. |
